The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

So, I actually haven't read this yet, but a friend recommended it. It's about a society that has to fight for food (like gladiator style). She also recommended Sarah's Key, but I see that Lauren already wrote about this. Besides re-reading The Lovely Bones- I haven't read much lately but pregnancy books. I'll let you know how they are when I read them!

Sarahs Key by Tatiana deRosnay

Sarahs Key is AWSOME!!! It's told from two stand points in time, one current and one as it happened in the past. Sarah is a young girl whose family must go into hiding as the Jews are being rounded up. She hides her young brother in the secret cabinet in his room & tells him she will be back for him shortly. Years later, her story comes to light as a writer uncovers it, and many secrets in her husbands family.

Sounds Like Crazy by Shana Mahaffey

Sounds Like Crazy is about Holly Miller, who has 5 people living in her head. Faceless Boy, Sarge, The Silent One, Ruffles & Betty Jane. I really liked this as it tells the story from her side of how she ended up with DID (dissociative identity disorder AKA multiple personality disorder) and how she over came it.

Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger

So this is the newer book by the author of "the time travelers wife". while not as confusing as that book, there is still an element of fantasy to it. The characters are all very different and pretty intriguing. I thought overall it was pretty good and a fun read. The main characters are twins and i think right off the bat I'll read any book if there are twins involved :) but the premise is they go to live in england for a year after their aunt (whom they never met) leaves them her apartment in her will, which they must live in for at least a year to get more inheritance. it just follows what happens to them there and you learn more about the aunt and her friends. Overall i thought it was good and worth reading. I'd give it 3 1/2 of 5 stars :)

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet

Ladies!! This is such a fabulous idea! I am very excited! Well, my first recommendation is The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet. Absolutely wonderful. It was published in 1989 and is historical fiction about the building of a cathedral in Kingsbridge, England. Soo good. Make sure you start it when you have time to read...you will not want to put it down!

Outliers - Malcolm Gladwell

Hey guys!

I finished "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell a few weeks ago. It was so interesting! It was about how people's birthdates, the year they were born, where they were born, and what their families did for a living helped contribute to their success. For example, the book opened with a discussion of professional hockey players in Canada. It was discovered that like 70% of them were born in January, February or March. It turns out that hockey leagues have a January 1 cut-off date to join that league. So that means that someone born on January 2, 1980 is on the same team as someone born on December 31, 1980. However, the first person is basically a full year older, so they are stronger, faster, and better players. So they get more playing time, and become better hockey players. It's a really interesting read!!!
